EVANS, Ga. () – A new year means new resolutions, and one of the most common every year is working out and getting to the gym.

Several cars packed the parking lot at the Gold’s Gym in Evans early New Year’s Day.

For members, they say they want to start the year off on the right foot.

“I’m 40 years old right now, so I definitely want to take care of myself. I want to make sure that I’m healthy, and I’m able to do the things I love,” said Kat Knoke.

Working out is something Knoke says she loves to do throughout the year, but for many that’s easier said than done.

Data shows nearly 50 percent of people with fitness related New Year’s Resolutions give up on them by February.

But for owner Ken Lynch, he says one of their goals this year is to address that.

“Each person every year has good intentions, but our main thing is to get it to stick. So, we’re able to help them get on a program, show them the ropes of the club, and get results—because results motivate and keep you coming,” said Lynch.

His daughter Bella works with members as a personal trainer.

She says the turnout this time of year is better than other seasons, but the mission goes beyond getting more people through the door.

“The most important part of the job is motivating other people—motivating my clients to come to the gym to work out and better themselves. I would say as Gold’s in general, we just want people to come in here and better themselves,” she said.

Gold’s Gym in Evans also just won an award for the most improved gym nationwide thanks to their customer service and having top notch equipment for members.

Ken Lynch says it makes him optimistic about the future, and what’s in store for 2025.

“We’re going to be adding 26 new pieces of equipment in late January, early February. Just based on the community loving the club, we needed more equipment to be able to serve them,” said Lynch. “Our club is known for cleanliness and customer service—but when it comes to strength equipment, I think we’re the best club in town.”

It’s that same environment at Gold’s that make members want to continue coming back.

“I never really used to be a gym person. But when we moved down here and started going to Gold’s—between the management, the owners, the people, the community—I’ve absolutely fallen in love with training, and especially weight training,” said Knoke.
