SULLIVAN COUNTY, Tenn. (WJHL) — A Sullivan County deputy returned fire after a person reportedly shot at authorities from a Kingsport home on Tuesday, according to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI).
The TBI stated in a news release that shortly after 9:30 a.m., the Sullivan County Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team was executing a search warrant at a mobile home on Barnett Drive.
Sullivan County Sheriff’s Capt. Andy Seabolt specified that the warrant was a narcotics search warrant.
A preliminary investigation found that a person fired shots from inside the mobile home as the SWAT Team approached, according to the TBI.
A deputy reportedly returned fire during the incident.
No injuries were reported after the exchange of gunfire.
The person in the mobile home surrendered after a short standoff and was taken into custody, the release states.
Second Judicial District Attorney General Barry Staubus requested that the TBI investigate the shooting.
As of Tuesday afternoon, the investigation remains ongoing.
