COLUMBIA COUNTY, Ga. () – The community continues to come together to support the family of Columbia County Deputy Brandon Sikes as well as Deputy Gavin White.
The Columbia County Unity Fundraiser will be May 10th and is now going to take place at Augusta Christian Schools and will have many local businesses, a silent auction, and a car show to raise money for the deputies’ families.
“We are really just trying to be the bridge to bring everybody together, support the families, and raise some money to help them through the times ahead,” said Corey Lichtenberg, Fundraiser Organizer.
100% of the event’s donations and proceeds will go back to the families. There will also be food trucks that will give 20 percent back to the families, bouncy houses for kids, and veteran motorcycle groups in support of Gavin White’s Marine history.
“We’ve gotten a ton of support from our community, and we’re proud that everyone is stepping up for a great cause,” said Bo Chavous, Fundraiser Organizer.
Organizers want to show their support and respect for everything the officers did during Saturday night’s shooting. Both have an appreciation for law enforcement—Bo Chavous and both his parents previously worked for Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.
“We understand a lot of what the families are going through right now. We understand what their needs could be right now, and we’re just doing whatever we can to help,” said Chavous.
Corey Lichtenberg also appreciates the officers who have helped him throughout his life.
“Even though the problems I have had in my life, I’ve known a lot of good servants of law enforcement who have supported me in my journey,” said Lichtenberg.
The event will take place from 10 am until 2 pm. The silent auction tickets are now on sale. For more information on how to purchase or donate you can go to the Corey Lichtenburg’s Facebook page.
