SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WCIA) — A 23-year-old was arrested Monday in connection to a shooting that killed a teenager in Springfield last week.

WCIA previously reported that 19-year-old Camren White of Christian County died from multiple gunshot wounds following a shooting on April 7. It happened near West Lenox and Glenwood Avenues.

The Sangamon County Sheriff’s Office said that after investigating, an arrest warrant was issued for Justin Pickrell of Springfield. The warrant was for criminal offences of first degree murder and possession of a weapon by a felon.

Pickrell was arrested by members of the U.S. Marshals Service Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force after a crash in Springfield. It happened in the area of 7th Street and S. Grand Ave. around 3:40 p.m. Pickrell was brought to a hospital due to injuries he received in the crash.

The Sheriff’s Office thanked the Springfield Police Department, Leland Grove Police Department, the U.S. Marshals Service, the Sangamon County Coroner’s Office and the Sangamon County State’s Attorney’s Office for their assistance.
