JASPER COUNTY, S.C. – An individual has been apprehended in connection with a bank heist in Jasper County, South Carolina, as confirmed by the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO). The incident occurred on Wednesday, October 22.
The JCSO received an emergency call reporting a robbery in progress at TD Bank situated at 13 University Parkway (Route 112) in Bluffton. Officers from the JCSO and the Hardeeville Police Department (HPD) quickly responded to the scene.
Witnesses at the bank described the suspect as an African American male who escaped on a bicycle. Investigators tracked the suspect’s movements and discovered he had switched to a small white SUV to flee the area. The bicycle was later found abandoned in a nearby wooded area.
The suspect was identified as Elton Clinton Atkins from Summerville, South Carolina. Just hours after the robbery, authorities located Atkins in Charleston. Officers from the North Charleston Police Department stopped his vehicle, leading to his arrest.

Atkins is currently being held at the Al Cannon Detention Center pending transport back to Jasper County.
