Suspect identified in May hit-and-run on Wheeler Road

AUGUSTA, Ga. () – The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office has issued arrest warrants for 37-year-old Quanterius Marquette Nelson, in connection with a severe hit-and-run in May.

Investigators say Nelson was involved in that serious hit-and-run crash on May 28, at the intersection of Wheeler Road and Frontage Road. That crash left 27-year-old Morgan Gray critically injured.

Nelson is facing charges of:

  • Serious Injury by Motor Vehicle
  • Felony Leaving the Scene of an Accident
  • Failure to Yield While Turning Left
  • Driving While License Suspended
  • No Insurance

“Due to the diligence of our investigators, we now have enough probable cause to move forward with charges,” said Richmond County Sheriff Gino Brantley. “Our team has worked tirelessly to bring accountability and justice to this case as expeditiously as possible. We are committed to continuing our pursuit until Mr. Nelson is apprehended.”
