CARTER COUNTY, Tenn. (WJHL) — A tentative trial date has been established for three individuals linked to a shocking case involving a body discovered inside a freezer in Carter County.
Joey Guinn and Jim Chambers face first-degree murder charges in connection with the 2024 death of 64-year-old Edward Elliott. Both Guinn and Chambers are scheduled to stand trial together.
Amanda Quillen, charged as an accessory after the fact, is set to undergo a separate trial.
All three defendants appeared in court on Thursday morning, where the trial was scheduled to take place from August 24 to August 28.
However, the court noted that another trial could be scheduled for the same time, and a backup date might be needed.
The suspects are scheduled to appear in court again on Aug. 10, at which point they will determine whether the trial will begin on Aug. 24 or on another date.
Elliott’s body was found in a buried freezer in a remote part of Carter County on May 15, 2024. When he was found, Elliott had been considered missing for more than two months.
