TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Many people come to Tampa for the warm weather and growing economy, but it’s also one of the most pet-friendly cities in the U.S., according to a report from WalletHub.
The study analyzed things like average veterinary care costs, the number of vets and pet-boarding establishments, how walkable the city is and how many parks there are.
Tampa stood out in a few categories, including how pet-friendly the rental market is. The WalletHub study found that around 89% of listings allowed pets.
The city also has a high number of animal shelters, making it an ideal spot for people looking to adopt a furry friend instead of purchasing from a breeder. When it’s time to go out of town, Tampa also sticks out as a city with tons of doggie daycares and boarding establishments for pets.
With lots of dog-friendly restaurants and parks scattered throughout the city, Tampa also makes it easy to get around town with your pup and enjoy the beautiful weather.
Tampa came second only to Scottsdale, Arizona, which ranked a little higher in pet-friendly businesses and rental options, but has higher costs associated with pet ownership.
