Customers and employees of Target faced a series of disruptions impacting a range of services, including returns, fulfillment systems, and both curbside and online pickup options. These issues have sparked widespread concern and frustration.

One Target employee took to Reddit on Friday morning, questioning the severity of the situation with the post, “Is the apocalypse happening, what the actual hell[?]” This sentiment captures the confusion and annoyance echoed by many.

Reports of these technical difficulties began flooding the outage-tracking website DownDetector shortly after 6 a.m. ET. By 11 a.m., the number of complaints had surged to over 1,200, highlighting the scale of the problem.

A Target spokesperson addressed the matter in a statement provided to Nexstar. Although they confirmed awareness of the digital issues, they refrained from detailing the exact cause or extent of the disruption. “We’re aware of intermittent issues with our digital experience and a fix is underway,” the statement explained. “In the meantime, our stores continue to be open and ready for holiday shopping. At Target, our top priority is offering a great guest experience. We apologize for this disruption and will provide an update as soon as possible.”

“We’re aware of intermittent issues with our digital experience and a fix is underway,” reads the statement.” In the meantime, our stores continue to be open and ready for holiday shopping. At Target, our top priority is offering a great guest experience. We apologize for this disruption and will provide an update as soon as possible.”

On Twitter, however, the team behind Target’s official guest services account said Target.com was experiencing “temporary restrictions or system limitations” after a customer complained about not being able to order certain products.

Another customer claimed she was charged for an expensive order, but her account at Target.com showed no evidence of the purchase in her ordering history.

“We’re aware of the issues you’re experiencing and are actively looking into them. We appreciate your patience while we work to resolve this,” a Target representative responded.

This is a developing story.
