Taylorville Police Chief Dwayne Wheeler said in a Facebook post that the Community Action and the Emergency Response Teams executed a search warrant for a home on Market Street. As a result, they seized methamphetamine, fentanyl, scales and thousands of dollars in cash.

Two women were arrested on the following charges:

  • Rebecca Champley, 49, possession of meth with intent to deliver, possession of fentanyl with intent to deliver, criminal fortification of a residence
  • Lorna Smith, 43, possesion of methamphetamine

Wheeler added that more charges against Champley are expected.

“This operation highlights an important message to those involved in illegal drug activity: we are relentless in our pursuit of justice, and if you are engaged in criminal behavior, you may be next,” he said. “Our work is never finished, and we will continue our efforts to create a safer city for everyone.”

Wheeler also thanked the Christian County State’s Attorney and the judge who signed the search warrant for their assistance in the operation, saying, “This success is a direct result of great teamwork.”
