TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA)—After a season opener win against the Atlanta Falcons, Baker Mayfield and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will face off against CJ Stroud and the Houston Texans on Monday night.

The Bucs are attempting to go 2-0 for the fifth straight year as they head to Texas.

Tristan Wirfs, the left tackle for the Buccaneers, will miss the game on Monday night, which means the restructured Offensive line that played in Atlanta will be put to work.

“Anytime you play a team like this that has two bona fide studs on the edge, you game plan for them, you understand the protection on some things when you are trying to push the ball down the field. You are going to need extra guys in there, whether it’s a chip block or different things like that, double teams, and so, you know where they are at, at all times. You know when they are on the field and off the field,” Baker Mayfield said.

Who to look for:

  • Vita Vea and the defensive line take on the Texans’ Offensive line with four new starters
  • Wide receiver Emeka Egbuka, who caught two of the three touchdowns in Atlanta for his NFL debut.
  • Haason Reddick had one sack in his Bucs debut against Atlanta. Can we see more from him on Monday night?

“Just got to keep him contained. He is a guy, if you leave too many rush lanes open, if you don’t have good rush integrity, he will take off,” Haason Reddick said.

The Bucs have had problems going into primetime games. They were 0-5 in 2024 and have lost the past five games against the Texans.

The Buccaneers will take on the Texans at 7 p.m. ET.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are holding a watch party at Armature Works Monday night, with doors opening at 5:30 p.m.

The Houston Texans are 0-1 after a loss against the LA Rams.
