In a tragic turn of events, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) has apprehended a teenager in connection with the death of another young man at an apartment complex in Bloomingdale, Georgia.
The incident, which claimed the life of 17-year-old Antonio Thornton Jr. from Loganville, unfolded on the morning of December 14 at the Magnolia Lane Apartments. Authorities have been diligently working to piece together the circumstances surrounding this heartbreaking event.
Franklin Leonard James Jr., a 16-year-old from Savannah, now faces multiple serious charges, including Felony Murder, Aggravated Assault, Armed Robbery, and two firearm-related offenses. The GBI has confirmed that James is being prosecuted as an adult and has been remanded to the Savannah Regional Youth Detention Center (RYDC).
In the wake of this tragedy, a friend of the Thornton family has launched a fundraiser to support a fitting farewell for Antonio, affectionately known as “TJ.” Those wishing to contribute to the cause can find the GoFundMe link available online.
