ORLANDO, Fla. – It was a hot start to the weekend in Central Florida as high temperatures settled in the 90s.

Showers and storms on the evening radar continue to produce heavy rain mainly to the east of Orlando and Sanford and back toward the Brevard and southern Volusia County coast.

Stronger storms are capable of dumping up to an inch or more of rain per hour leading to some minor flooding, so be sure to be safe on the roads. The rain will clear late tonight leaving behind partly cloudy skies and a humid night in the upper 70s.

Looking ahead to tomorrow, temperatures will rebound into the mid‑90s.

With humidity cranked up, it’ll feel even hotter between 100°-107°. Thankfully, heat indices are projected to stay below heat advisory levels.

Rain coverage will be isolated to scattered, with a 40% chance of storms, mostly during the late afternoon and early evening.

By the beginning of next week, moisture returns in full force with rain chances increasing to around 70% with a stalled out front lingering over northern Florida.

Plan your outdoor activities with flexibility, keep an umbrella handy, and stay alert to any updates on potential flooding during peak storm times.

The National Hurricane Center has highlighted a new area of interest right off the Carolina coast for a low potential of tropical development within the next seven days.

This is a response to the same stalled front slowly pushing into our area here in the southeast, upping our rain chances over the course of this upcoming week.

The good news immediately – this will be no threat to Central Florida and is likely to continue on an eastward path away from any major landmass. You can read more about the tropics by clicking here.
