JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (WJHL) – The Tennessee Volunteers made a strong start in the 2026 NCAA Tournament, securing their place in the Round of 32 with a victory over Miami of Ohio.

Displaying dominance from the get-go, Tennessee maintained their lead through to the end, ultimately triumphing by a margin of 22 points. This impressive win came against a formidable opponent that had only suffered a single loss all season.

In downtown Johnson City, Yee-Haw Brewing was awash in a vibrant sea of orange and white as locals came together to cheer on the Volunteers.

This popular brewery organized official watch parties for fans at all four of its locations, including the one in Johnson City, to celebrate and support the team.

Enthusiastic fans gathered around large screens to witness the Big Orange’s commanding performance as they progressed further in the tournament.

One University of Tennessee alum, Ian Feathers, was there and said he’ll be supporting his team no matter what.

“I had to be in town,” he said. “My mother’s here between Elizabethton and Johnson City, so we usually stop at Yee-Haw. I graduated from the University of Tennessee, and I’m out here at least for tip-off for a minute to support the Vols. I’m a Volunteer, and got to give my all for Tennessee today, and that’s what I’m here to do.”

Tennessee will next face off against UVA on Sunday.
