Texas teens arrested after dispute over Wi-Fi access leads to alleged attack

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KIAH) — Three teenagers were arrested overnight after allegedly attacking their mother in a violent dispute over Wi-Fi access, according to Harris County Sheriff’s Office Sheriff Ed Gonzalez.

Sheriff Gonzalez said deputies responded to a disturbance at a home in the 3400 block of Barkers Crossing Avenue in west Harris County. That’s where authorities said they found an woman who had been assaulted. Investigators said the woman’s three children—ages 14, 15, and 16—became angry after she turned off the internet.

Sheriff’ Gonzalez said the the teens allegedly coordinated a plan to kill their mother, arming themselves with kitchen knives and chasing her through the house and into the street. During the attack, the mother was struck with a brick. The grandmother, who tried to intervene, was also knocked over in the struggle. Fortunately, neither woman suffered serious injuries.

All three teens were arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. They have been booked into the Harris County Juvenile Detention Center.
