SAVANNAH, Ga. () — The second day of competition starts this morning at the 2025 Club Car Championship. The event celebrates its eighth year and features a world-class field of over 150 players.

While the competition intensifies, the event is also making a positive impact in supporting local charities. went to the golf course to learn more about how volunteers have been working for months to ensure the tournament’s success.

While the golfers are out competing – more than 500 volunteers have been working behind the scenes since December to make this all happen. Many come from the neighborhood that surrounds the course: The Landings.

“So basically, we have 535 volunteers. The vast majority are Landings Club members, and we couldn’t get it done without them,” said Syd Britt, the Volunteer Chair for the Club Car Championship Tournament. Britt has been in this position for the past three years and says this is her favorite week of the year. “I like all the energy that is going on here when we get 156 players around here. The various things that is going on as well.”

The tournament features 156 golfers and supports local charities with a portion of every ticket sold. For the last couple of years, the tournament has raised almost half a million dollars.
Officials say this fundraising is important for the Coastal Empire because this raises money these charities wouldn’t necessarily get. Volunteer chairs tell that this year’s charity events are set to raise even more, with highlights like the Pro-am and Saturday’s military appreciation ceremony.

It’s a community celebration supporting great causes.

“It is a lot of hours. And this is the point of why I love being out here. Is because people put in the work to set it up, to coordinate, and they are communicating with all their team members, so it is volunteers on the committees and stuff like that. It is a really great effort,” shared Britt.

Beyond the golf, it’s making a big impact on local charities, raising funds for causes like First Tee Junior Golf and The Landings Military Family Relief Fund.

Friday evening Syd Britt shared that her favorite event begins to set up, which is paired with Hunter Army Airfield. “Friday night helicopters will come swooping in here and they will park in for the evening -depending on the weather. Saturday all day long there is military events whether it’s the tanks or helicopters and all kinds of things. Kids can come out here and get their pictures taken in it.”

Tickets start at $10, with free entry for military, first responders, and kids under 17.
