DANVILLE, Ill. (WCIA) — A shopping center in Danville that used to be full of different department stores is now slowly dying down.
JoAnn Fabric and Crafts is scheduled to close in the next few months and the mall is looking more like a ghost town.
On the inside they’ll still have the DACC barber school and Bath and Body Works but most of everything else have already closed.
But people in Danville said they’re still keeping their hopes high for an update.
“It is disheartening. It’s been hard to see that get smaller and smaller and smaller, and the movie theater leave. And so, again, I’m hopeful that someone purchased some of those things and hoping that there’s some new life that will come here. And yes, we walk here, too. And we’re all just hoping that some good things, positive things will happen,” Michal Heffernan said.
Mike Marron, Vermilion Advantage CEO said the owners have to figure out how to repurpose the space by adding in amenities like an indoor sports facility.
