JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (WJHL) — At least 14 vehicles were targeted after a recent string of thefts from vehicles throughout Johnson City, police report.
According to a news release from the Johnson City Police Department (JCPD), the vehicles were targeted across the following neighborhoods between Tuesday and Wednesday morning:
- The Haven at Knob Creek
- Rosemont Apartments
- Lake Ridge Community
- The Villas at Boone Ridge
The JCPD asks anyone living in the above areas with home security cameras to review footage for any suspicious activity during the relevant timeframe.
The JCPD stated that the thefts mostly involved unlocked vehicles.
“The JCPD reminds all residents to lock their vehicles whenever they are unattended and to avoid leaving valuables inside, even in residential areas,” the JCPD said in the release. “These simple precautions are often the most effective deterrents against theft.”
Investigators believe there may be more victims in those neighborhoods who haven’t reported the thefts to authorities.
Anyone with information regarding the thefts or victims who need to file a report is asked to contact the JCPD Criminal Investigations Division at 423-434-1007 or submit a tip anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 423-930-6535.
