AUGUSTA, Ga. ()- AI. It scares us, but sophisticated AI can be used to complement human intelligence. And the United States leads the world.

“If we’re thinking about the infrastructure to allow aid to be sophisticated and incorporated into security. These are states has a large number of data centers, very sophisticated data centers. Some of those data centers are housed outside the United States. But U.S. companies can access those. And also, U.S. has very sophisticated technology. They can relate to using A.I. in the area of security,” said Dr. Lance Hunter political science professor at Augusta University.

And it will bring advantages to the military.

“If you’re thinking about any potential conflicts, there’ll be a lot of advantages that countries have for their militaries through the use of artificial intelligence, decision making capabilities, gathering data, the speed in which their forces can operate. So I think it will be a very important factor in,” Hunter said.

There’s also advantages with our everyday lives.

“There can be a lot of really beneficial effects of artificial intelligence if we’re thinking about A.I. being able to perform certain types of tasks to assist individuals to being more productive. You know, in a lot of different ways in their in their work life, in their individual life, etc. It can really help in a lot of areas within economies, health care,” said Hunter.

And some disadvantages.

“If we’re thinking about how artificial intelligence can be used as far as generating content that we’re not sure if it’s real or not. Deep, deep fake types of videos, things along those lines. And then also, I think we really have to think about how A.I. is going to affect labor markets,” also said Hunter.
