Amid growing scrutiny over artificial intelligence, TikTok is stepping up its game. The popular social media platform has unveiled a suite of new tools designed to enhance transparency around AI technology. This initiative also empowers users with the ability to manage the AI-generated content that populates their ‘For You’ feeds, offering greater control over their viewing experience.
As part of this rollout, TikTok aims to address concerns and provide clarity on how AI influences the content users engage with daily. This move comes at a time when the app is under intense observation from lawmakers and the public, particularly given recent legal actions, such as the lawsuit filed by California and a coalition of attorneys general against the platform, as mentioned in the video above.
These newly introduced features are part of TikTok’s broader efforts to maintain user trust and ensure that the use of AI on its platform is both transparent and user-friendly. With these tools, TikTok is not only enhancing user experience but also aligning itself with the growing demand for ethical and transparent AI practices. As the digital landscape continues to evolve, such measures are increasingly crucial in maintaining a positive relationship between tech companies and their users.

(FOX40.COM)— TikTok announced that the app is releasing new tools to build transparency around AI, including accessibility for users to manage AI-generated content they see in their ‘For You’ feeds.
TikTok users will soon see an AI-generated content control feature under ‘manage topics,’ which already allows users to adjust how often they see content related to over 10 categories. With this new feature, users can control how much or how little AI-generated content they see on TikTok.
The app is also testing “invisible watermarking” to let viewers and creators know if content is AI-generated or using AI tools. TikTok said that since testing this new feature, over 1.3 billion videos have been labeled.
In part of the app’s mission to create awareness of AI, TikTok launched a $2 million AI literacy fund for experts to create feed content that teaches users about AI literacy and safety.
This follows a similar move by Pinterest after the platform received complaints that AI was impacting its quality. In the announcement, TikTok said, “These updates are part of our wider work to safeguard and empower positive experiences with AI.”
