TILTON, Ill. (WCIA) — One Vermilion County Fire Department could be getting a facelift, and residents will have the chance to win some big prizes throughout the process.

The Tilton Fire Department is having a raffle to raise money for future upgrades. The hope is to eventually have the full department all in one place. This includes the vehicles from EMS, the fire department and their equipment. All of this is currently spread across two separate locations.

The expansion would be for the fire station on Fifth St., and the raffle has already started. People are able to buy tickets for the raffle, and the biggest prize for a raffle winner is a new car.

The Mayor of Tilton said he hopes to see the community help the fire department reach their fundraising goals.

“It actually makes it more personal to everybody involved in selling tickets,” said Bill Wear, Tilton Mayor. “That building becomes theirs instead of just a structure.”

The goal is to sell over 4,000 tickets. To purchase tickets for the raffle, click here.
