TOLONO, Ill. (WCIA) — Firefighters responded to a house fire in Tolono just before 8 p.m. on Saturday.
According to the Tolono Fire Protection District, crews responded to a home that was on fire on West Holden Street at 7:57 p.m.
When firefighters got there, they found that the fire was in the basement and the first floor. Everyone was out of the home by the time firefighters arrived, allowing them to begin work extinguishing the blaze.
The crews used multiple hose lines to put the fire out, and got it under control around 8:40 p.m.
The Tolono Fire Protection District said they called in the SIFT team to help investigate. The cause of the fire is still unknown at this time.
The family living in the home has been displaced by the fire, but no one was injured, according to the fire department.
Other responding agencies include Savoy, Philo, Pesotum, Tuscola, Arrow Ambulance, Tolono Police, CCSO, and Metcad.
The Tolono Fire Protection District reminds residents that it is important to have working smoke alarms. Working smoke alarms save lives, according to the fire department.
