HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. — Players have started arriving in Hilton Head Island for the 2025 RBC Heritage, which tees off on April 17.

Some of the notable players in the field include the world’s No. 1 golfer Scottie Scheffler; Xander Schauffele, who has two of the past four major championships and is ranked third in the world; and Collin Morikawa, who is ranked fourth in the rankings.

As for the players already in Hilton Head as of Monday afternoon, Sepp Straka, the former UGA Bulldog is ranked 17th in the world. He’s looking for a bounce-back performance after missing the cut in Augusta last week.

In last year’s RBC Heritage, he was paired with Scottie Scheffler in the final round where he shot 71 and finished tied for fifth.

Also, out on the putting green on Monday was the world’s eighth-ranked golfer Justin Thomas. This season, he tied the course record of 62 in the second round of The Players Championship in Ponte Vedra.

Rickie Fowler was out on the driving range. He has no wins this year, but two top 25 finishes at the Valero Texas Open he finished tied for 30th. Fowler is in the field on a sponsor exemption.

Another top 25 golfer hitting balls on Monday was Billy Horschel. The Florida alum has been up and down this season. He’s made six cuts and missed five, including last week at the Masters.

Another player in the field this week who missed the cut at the Masters is Chrisitan Bezuidenhout. He is ranked 59th in the world but has missed the cut in his last three outings.

Aaron Rai was out on the putting green. He finished tied for 27th at the Masters. This year he’s finished in the top 25 four times.

His highest finish was at the Mexico Open, which Bluffton resident Brian Campbell won in a playoff.

This tournament will work a little differently than most events.

There is a limited field and no cut. The field of 72 was finalized Monday afternoon and there were 15 alternates as of Monday at 9:16 a.m.

There are four players playing this week on a sponsor exemption: Rickie Fowler, Mackenzie Hughes, Matt Kuchar and Jordan Spieth. Back in 2022, Spieth won this event, which was the last time he won on tour.

On Tuesday the opening ceremony starts at noon. The defending champion Scottie Scheffler will speak to the media in the flash area after the event.

On Thursday, RBC Heritage pro-am. Scheffler is scheduled to go out at 7 a.m. Schauffele will go out at 8:50 a.m. with Morikawa right behind him at 9 a.m. All will tee from first hole.
