JESUP, Ga. — In an exciting event held at Wayne County High School, two standout football players marked a significant milestone in their athletic careers during the NCAA Division I early signing period for college football. The ceremony took place on Tuesday in the school’s auditorium.

Defensive end Dawson Skies committed to Austin Peay, having also received an offer from Kennesaw State. “Austin Peay felt like a family to me, which is very important,” Skies explained. “Throughout my time in Wayne County, the sense of family has always been central. That connection was just something special to me.”

Meanwhile, middle linebacker Wyatt Hickox signed with Central Georgia Tech. Reflecting on his journey, Hickox shared, “It’s incredibly rewarding. I’ve been working hard since the sixth or seventh grade. I started off as a benchwarmer and was even overweight. While many doubted, I always believed this moment would come.”
