Traffic Alert: Semi-Truck Rollover Temporarily Shuts Down I-57 Lanes in Champaign County

In the early hours of Tuesday, a semi-truck accident disrupted traffic on I-57 in Champaign County, Illinois. The incident involved a white Freightliner truck-tractor with a utility trailer, which overturned near milepost 237, temporarily reducing the northbound traffic to a single lane.

Illinois State Police responded to the scene at approximately 2:14 a.m. Fortunately, the driver emerged unscathed from the crash. However, the accident led to the right lane being obstructed, prompting officials to advise motorists to exercise caution and reduce speed while navigating the affected stretch of the interstate.

By 3:35 a.m., authorities confirmed that all lanes had been reopened to traffic, though they noted that the recovery of the overturned truck would be scheduled for a later time. Despite the early morning disruption, the swift response helped mitigate any prolonged inconvenience for commuters.
