APOPKA, Fla. – Law enforcement activity led by U.S. Border Patrol caused Apopka High School to be placed on a temporary secure/hold on Friday, according to officials.
Five people were taken into custody after Florida Highway Patrol troopers and Border Patrol agents conducted a traffic stop near the high school, an Apopka police spokesperson said in a statement.
Four occupants of the vehicle ran away after the vehicle was pulled over for allegedly running a stop sign, according to a statement from the FHP. The driver remained in the vehicle and local law enforcement eventually located the four others, the statement reads.
All five occupants were “detained and turned over to ICE,” the FHP said.
The school has since returned to normal operations, according to police.
News 6 has reached out to ICE for more information.
