In Sun City Center, Florida, a routine traffic stop turned pivotal when authorities apprehended three men residing illegally in the United States. This arrest connected them to a series of burglaries in the area, as reported by WFLA.

The chain of events began on January 24, when homeowners returned to their residence on West Kenyon Avenue to discover a break-in around 3:35 p.m. According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, the perpetrators had shattered a sliding glass door and thoroughly ransacked the home.

Among the items stolen was a personal safe, various pieces of jewelry, and a firearm, with the total loss estimated at approximately $137,000. This incident was just the first in a series of burglaries that prompted a swift response from local law enforcement.

Shortly after the initial report, deputies were alerted to a second burglary, this time occurring about five miles away on Osage Drive. The close proximity and timing of the incidents suggested a pattern, leading authorities to intensify their search for the culprits.

HCSO said deputies received another call of a second break-in at a home around five miles away on Osage Drive.

Video surveillance footage from both incidents identified a vehicle believed to be involved in the burglaries.

On Jan. 27, deputies spotted the vehicle traveling southbound on I-75 near the Sun City Center Boulevard exit and conducted a traffic stop.

The driver, Juan Gabriel Caicedo Chasoy, 39, couldn’t provide a valid driver’s license and was arrested for having no valid driver’s license.

According to HCSO, further investigation revealed that Caicedo Chasoy has a final order of deportation, and the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement placed a detainer on him.

One of the passengers, Jhon Alex Riasco Vergara, 33, gave deputies a driver’s license with a fake name and date of birth. He was arrested and charged with two counts og fugitive warrant, two counts of unauthorized use of possession of a fradulent ID card, false information to a law enforcement officer, and displaying a fraudulent ID card. An ICE detainer was also placed on him, HCSO said.

HCSO detectives determined that Riasco Vergara was responsible for committing the burglary in Hillsborough County and has been charged with armed burglary of an unoccupied dwelling and grand theft over $100,000.

A third passenger, Louis Ramon Monseque, 35, used fradulent identification documents, and detectives later confirmed his identity and discovered multiple active felony warrants out of Texas for residential burglaries and warrants from the state of Washington for burglary, kidnapping, and criminal mischief.

According to deputies, Monseque was charged with false name to a law enforcement officer and possession of cannabis less than 20 grams. Monseque also has a final order of deportation, and ICE placed a detainer on him.

“This case demonstrates how our deputies enforce the law and follow established procedures to hold offenders accountable,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “Our deputies identified and charged one suspect responsible for a major residential burglary here in Hillsborough County. All three individuals were held on ICE detainers, and two have since been released to ICE to ensure they cannot return to our streets.”

All three men are citizens of the Republic of Colombia.

Monseque and Caicedo Chasoy have been released to ICE, while Riasco Vergara remained in jail pending several criminal charges, HCSO said.
