Tragic Accident Claims Life of 31-Year-Old Man in Volusia County

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. – In a tragic incident on Saturday morning, a 31-year-old man from Valrico lost his life in a solo vehicle accident in Volusia County, as reported by the Florida Highway Patrol.

The accident was reported to have taken place at approximately 9:08 a.m. at the intersection of State Road 44 and Old Sawmill Road.

The crash report detailed that the driver, in a Ford F-150, was heading west on S.R. 44 in the outer lane as he approached the junction with Old Sawmill Road.

According to the troopers, the pickup truck was exceeding the speed limit when the driver was unable to handle a left-hand curve, causing the vehicle to veer off the road and onto the shoulder.

Troopers said the pickup truck was traveling above the posted speed limit when the driver failed to negotiate a left-hand curve and ran off of the roadway right, onto the shoulder.

According to the report, the truck then continued to travel west before striking several trees. It then overturned onto its roof.

Troopers said the driver was pronounced dead at thes cene.

The crash remains under investigation.
