A tragic incident unfolded in Decatur, Illinois, on Saturday, resulting in one fatality and the arrest of a suspect. The Decatur Police Department responded to the scene on North Summit Avenue after receiving a report around 5:30 p.m. of a shooting.
According to police, 25-year-old Christian D. Luthy contacted emergency services, claiming he had accidentally shot a woman inside the home. Officers arrived to discover a 26-year-old woman suffering from a gunshot wound. She was swiftly transported to Decatur Memorial Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
Luthy was taken to the Decatur Police Department for questioning while investigators worked at the scene, collecting evidence and interviewing potential witnesses. Following their inquiries, authorities arrested Luthy on charges of involuntary manslaughter and booked him into the Macon County Jail.
