UPDATE (5:00 p.m.): Late Saturday afternoon, the Mobile Police Department provided the following update:
On the morning of February 21, 2026, at around 6:51 a.m., emergency responders from Mobile Police and Mobile Fire-Rescue were called to a collision at the railroad crossing on Cary Hamilton Road. Upon arrival, they found that an Amtrak train had collided with a vehicle. Tragically, Brittany Williams, aged 31, and her 8-year-old daughter, who were in the vehicle, were pronounced dead at the scene. Investigations confirmed that all safety signals, including flashing lights and crossing arms, were operational at the time of the accident. After the collision, the train continued for approximately 2100 feet before coming to a stop. No injuries were reported among the train passengers.
UPDATE (10:30 a.m.): Mobile Police have announced that the accident scene has been cleared, allowing the passenger train to resume its journey. A passenger onboard confirmed that the train would continue its scheduled route to Pascagoula and other destinations west of Mobile.
UPDATE (8:48 a.m.): According to a news release from a spokesperson for the Mobile Police Department, the collision between an Amtrak train and a vehicle resulted in the deaths of two individuals inside the car. The identities of the victims have not been released, and it remains unclear if there were additional occupants involved.
UPDATE (7:48 a.m.): Mobile Police officials have verified that multiple fatalities occurred following the crash involving an Amtrak train and a vehicle. The exact number of those deceased has yet to be confirmed.

Police and fire rescue are investigating an incident where a train collided with a vehicle near the intersection of Bellingrath Road and Peary Road Saturday morning, around 7 a.m.
Video captured by WKRG shows the train involved is an Amtrak train.
Multiple police vehicles, fire rescue vehicles, and ambulances were at the scene, closing off access to Bellingrath Road and the railroad tracks.
