Tragic Discovery: Three Dogs Killed in Brevard County Trailer Incident

COCOA, Fla. – Authorities in Brevard County are delving into a troubling case after discovering three deceased dogs inside a trailer owned by the boyfriend of a woman who suffered a fatal dog attack just last month.

The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office shared with News 6 that the lifeless dogs were found within the trailer on Thursday at the specified location.

Officials identified the trailer’s owner as Donnell Smith, the boyfriend of the late Jodi Cowan.

The investigation is still ongoing, with deputies planning to perform necropsies on the animals to uncover the cause of death.

When News 6 visited the scene on Friday afternoon, the scent of decomposition was still discernible around the trailer, even after the removal of the dogs.

The discovery comes weeks after Cowan was killed in May in a dog attack near her Cocoa home.

Investigators previously said two dogs attacked the 50-year-old woman. Authorities later arrested 29-year-old Linda Cutler and charged her with manslaughter in connection with Cowan’s death.

As for the three dogs found dead inside the trailer, deputies say the investigation is ongoing. No additional charges have been announced.
