
AUGUSTA, Ga. – On Saturday morning, at approximately 9:20 a.m., deputies from the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a residence on the 500 block of Hillwood Circle following reports of a tragic incident involving a 3-month-old infant. The child was found deceased, with initial information suggesting a possible dog attack inside the home.
Upon their arrival, law enforcement officers discovered the infant had died. The scene was quickly secured, and all residents were safely evacuated from the premises.
Personnel from the Criminal Investigation Division (CID), Animal Services, and the Richmond County Coroner’s Office promptly arrived to assist in the investigation. As part of the inquiry, a Cane Corso dog was taken from the home by Animal Services.
The investigation remains active, with authorities conducting interviews and collecting further evidence to understand the circumstances surrounding this heartbreaking event.
