A tragic accident claimed the life of a 34-year-old woman in Marion County, Florida, on Thursday evening, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The collision, involving two vehicles, occurred at approximately 6:50 p.m. on NE 160th Avenue Road near NE 220th Avenue.
Authorities reported that the incident unfolded when a 29-year-old man from Citra was driving southbound in a pickup truck. He crossed the double-yellow lines, colliding head-on with another pickup truck traveling north. The driver of the northbound vehicle attempted to steer clear of the oncoming truck but was unsuccessful.
Sadly, the Holiday woman, who was seated in the front passenger seat of the northbound pickup, lost her life at the scene. The Florida Highway Patrol’s crash report confirmed her untimely death.
In related news from Marion County, some residents are facing unexpected disruptions in their retirement plans due to highway developments, further highlighting the region’s recent challenges.
The 34-year-old Holiday woman, a front-seat passenger in the northbound pickup, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to an FHP crash report.
Her driver, a 36-year-old Fort McCoy man, was hospitalized with serious injuries, troopers said.
Another passenger in the northbound pickup suffered minor injuries.
The Citra man was taken to a hospital with serious injuries, the FHP crash report stated.
