A distressing incident unfolded in Lake County, Florida, as a 35-year-old woman from Clermont sustained serious injuries in a hit-and-run accident while she was cycling. The unfortunate event took place early on Saturday morning, as confirmed by the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred around 8 a.m. along County Road 455, just west of County Road 561. Authorities detailed that the woman was riding her bicycle eastward, positioned on the right edge of CR-455, when a vehicle’s right side struck her.

After the collision, the driver of the vehicle fled the scene without stopping to assist, according to troopers. The cyclist’s condition prompted an urgent transport to a local hospital, where she is being treated for her serious injuries.

The incident highlights concerns regarding road safety and the importance of drivers remaining vigilant and responsible, especially around cyclists. Law enforcement continues to investigate, urging anyone with information about the hit-and-run to come forward.

The woman was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

The FHP said there were no witnesses to provide any information on the vehicle, and the woman did not see the vehicle.

Anyone with information is asked to call FHP at *347 or Crimeline at 800-423-8477.

An investigation is ongoing.
