OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. – A tragic incident at a vacation rental has led to charges against a father after his 20-month-old daughter was discovered unresponsive in a hot tub early Saturday morning. The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office is handling the investigation.

Authorities reported that deputies were dispatched to a property on Nice Court, identified as an Airbnb, around 3:30 a.m. following reports of a potential drowning involving a young child.

The little girl was urgently transported to AdventHealth Celebration, where she was declared deceased shortly after 4:30 a.m.

Investigators revealed that 30-year-old Reynard Tyrone Hough, the child’s father, recounted to law enforcement that he had taken his daughter into the hot tub but unfortunately fell asleep while holding her. He awoke to the devastating realization that she was lifeless in his arms, as stated by the sheriff’s office.

It was noted by the sheriff’s office that the family had traveled from Washington, D.C., to visit the area.

Hough was arrested and faces charges of child neglect with great bodily harm, deputies said.

On Sunday, detectives added a charge of aggravated manslaughter of a child.

Hough remains in custody, deputies said.
