(NewsNation) — New insights have come to light regarding the passing of celebrity chef Anne Burrell.
The New York Police Department has disclosed that a “suicidal note” was discovered in the master bedroom of the Food Network personality’s residence in Brooklyn, New York. This note was dated June 17, 2025, coinciding with the day of her death, as reported by People Magazine and subsequently covered by other media outlets.
Investigators on the case also found “suicidal” entries penned in a journal located on the bed in the same bedroom, according to law enforcement.
The NYPD confirmed that Burrell’s husband, Stuart Claxton, discovered her unresponsive on the bathroom floor, surrounded by a number of over-the-counter medications.

Claxton reportedly told police that he attempted to wake her up by “shaking her and slapping her face,” but she was unresponsive.
He also told the NYPD that Burrell had “never attempted suicide in the past.”
Burell’s death was ruled a suicide in July 2025. She was 55.
She was best known for hosting Food Network’s “Worst Cooks in America,” but started her television career as a sous-chef to Mario Batali on “Iron Chef America.”
