In the early hours of Saturday morning, a tragic incident unfolded in Cumberland, Kentucky, prompting an investigation by the Kentucky State Police (KSP). Troopers were alerted to a shooting that resulted in the death of a local man.
Responding to a 911 call shortly after 4 a.m. on November 22, troopers from KSP Post 10 in Harlan rushed to the Coldiron Branch area within the Cumberland community. The call reported a shooting incident, as detailed in an official news release.
Upon arrival, first responders discovered 43-year-old Brian Johnson, who had succumbed to his injuries. The Harlan County Coroner, Derrick Noe, confirmed Johnson’s death at the scene, according to state police reports.
In connection with the shooting, authorities apprehended James Sizemore, aged 45. He faces a murder charge and is currently held without bond at the Harlan County Detention Center.
To ascertain the exact cause of death, an autopsy for Johnson has been requested. The procedure is set to be conducted by the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Frankfort, ensuring a thorough investigation into the circumstances of this tragic event.
