19-year-old dies after Decatur shooting; police investigating

DECATUR, Ill. (WCIA) — A tragic incident occurred in Decatur on Wednesday night, resulting in the death of a 19-year-old who was shot, as reported by the Decatur Police Department on Thursday morning.

Police officers responded to a call about gunshots and a wounded individual at a business located on the 500 block of N. Water Street at approximately 5:42 p.m. Upon arriving at the scene, they discovered the young man suffering from at least one gunshot injury. He was swiftly transported by ambulance to the Decatur Memorial Hospital, where he was subsequently declared deceased.
