HAMPTON COUNTY, S.C. – A tragic boat collision near Stokes Bluff Landing on Sunday evening has resulted in one fatality and three individuals sustaining injuries.
Authorities confirmed that the incident, which occurred shortly before 6 p.m., involved two boats carrying a total of four people.
The Effingham County Sheriff’s Office (ECSO) reported that three of the individuals were transported to the hospital for medical treatment. After an extensive four-hour search, the body of the fourth person was discovered in the water.
The response to the accident included multiple agencies: the Effingham County Fire Department (ECFD), the Georgia Department of Natural Resources (GA DNR), the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources (SC DNR), the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO), and the Hampton County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO).
An ECSO spokesperson stated that their office is leading the investigation into the collision.
