In an emotional interview with NewsChannel 6 shortly after her son’s death, Shaniqua Simmons expressed her grief and sought answers, saying, “He was a great kid. He was helpful, helped my whole family. Cut grass, fixed on roofs, everything. He was a jack of all trades. Our last conversation, we were fixing something, and he told me, ‘Don’t worry about it, Mom. I got it.’ He turned around to take his friend somewhere, and that was the last time we spoke.”

Shaniqua Simmons was charged with 2 counts of Pointing a firearm and 1 count of Possession of a Firearm by Person Convicted of Violent Felony.

She remains in the Aiken County Jail.
