KEMPTON, Ill. (WCIA) — A threatening note stating a student had a bomb was discovered Tuesday evening by Tri-Point Community Unit School District #6J.
According to Superintendent Jay Bennet, the note was brought to the attention of high school administration on the evening of Jan. 14. The note stated that a student had a bomb, which prompted administration to immediately begin a cooperative investigation with the Livingston and Ford County Deputies.
The initial investigation revealed no credible threats, but out of an abundance of caution, the investigation continued throughout Wednesday morning. The investigation included an entire sweep of the building with assistance from the University of Illinois canine unit.
The building was cleared by all units and there are currently no ongoing threats to student or faculty safety. School would go on as normal on Jan. 16.
