SULLIVAN COUNTY, Tenn. (WJHL) — The first day of Megan Boswell’s murder trial will begin Wednesday morning in Sullivan County.

Boswell faces 20 charges in the death of her 15-month-old daughter Evelyn, who was the subject of a February 2020 AMBER Alert. Evelyn was later found dead on a family member’s property in March 2020.

Among Boswell’s charges are two counts of felony murder and one count of first-degree murder.

The jury in Boswell’s trial was seated on Tuesday. A total of 14 people, eight men and six women, make up the jury.

The jury will also be tasked with deciding Boswell’s punishment if she is found guilty of murder.

Judge Jim Goodwin said on Tuesday that court would resume at 8:30 a.m. with the jury being charged at 9 a.m. Opening statements from both sides will begin after that.

Prosecutors have stated they are seeking a punishment of life in prison without parole for Boswell if convicted.
