ORLANDO, Fla. – Tropical Storm Bertha has emerged from what was Tropical Depression Two, reinforcing concerns along the Gulf Coast.

As of Monday evening, 8 p.m., Bertha’s sustained winds reached 40 mph, with a west northwest movement at a slow pace of 3 mph.

Forecasts indicate the storm will maintain its 40 mph strength as it tracks westward, tangentially moving past the northern Gulf Coast.

Bertha is predicted to weaken into a remnant low by the time it nears the Texas coastline later this week.

Additionally, Bertha is pulling tropical moisture over Florida, which may spark scattered thunderstorms in the region on Tuesday.

Beyond that for the Florida peninsula, drier air will dominate for the rest of the week.
