In an event brimming with pride and celebration, President Donald Trump welcomed the victorious baseball teams from Louisiana State University and Louisiana State University-Shreveport to the White House on Monday. The ceremony, held in the East Room, was a tribute to their exceptional achievements during the 2025 season.

The LSU Tigers emerged triumphant in the NCAA College World Series, securing a clean sweep against Coastal Carolina. Meanwhile, the LSU-Shreveport Pilots dazzled with an impeccable 59-0 record, clinching the NAIA championship title.

President Trump, displaying his characteristic humor, suggested that the strategic prowess of the teams’ coaches could be a valuable asset beyond the baseball diamond. “I think we should bring them into government,” he quipped, referring to LSU’s head coach Jay Johnson and LSU-Shreveport’s Brad Neffendorf. “We can definitely use them.”

As the teams basked in the national spotlight, their historic performances were celebrated as a testament to determination, skill, and teamwork, epitomizing the spirit of excellence that sports can inspire.

“I think we should bring them into government,” Trump jokingly said of LSU head coach Jay Johnson and LSU-Shreveport’s Brad Neffendorf. “We can definitely use them.”

The Pilots’ standout left-handed pitcher, Isaac Rohde, was named the 2025 ABCA/Rawlings NAIA Pitcher of the Year. The Tigers championship team included nine players selected in the 2025 major league draft.

It was LSU’s eighth national championship. Only the University of Southern California, with 12, has won more College World Series titles.
