Trump announces Hyundai's $21 billion investment

ELLABELL, Ga. () — The Hyundai Metaplant in Bryan County will eventually be using steel made on American soil at a plant owned by its parent company.

On Monday, President Donald Trump announced the company’s $21 billion investment. This will include Hyundai building a $5 billion steel plant in Louisiana. 

The $5.8 billion facility will be the car manufacturers’ first steel-making facility in the U.S. President Trump said that it will create more than 1,400 jobs and will produce more than 2.7 million metric tons of steel per year.

President Trump said that the Alabama and Georgia plants will soon produce more than one million American-made cars every year. 

Executive Chairman of Hyundai Motor Group Chung Eui-sun said that the Ellabell plant created more than 8,500 American jobs. He also invited President Trump to visit one of the manufacturing facilities.
