DAVOS – On Wednesday, U.S. President Donald Trump is set to join an assembly of distinguished government and business figures at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. This follows a day of provocative statements and economic threats stemming from strained relations between the U.S. and Europe at the prestigious gathering.
Around 3,000 influential attendees from 130 nations, along with numerous activists and observers, are expected to flood the annual summit, which runs until Friday. The event aims to foster dialogue, debates, and business negotiations amidst the picturesque Alpine surroundings.
This marks President Trump’s third appearance at the forum, amidst concerns from U.S. allies regarding his controversial interest in acquiring Greenland, as well as his attempts to control Venezuela’s oil resources.
During Tuesday’s session, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen criticized Trump’s proposed tariffs on eight European countries related to Greenland, labeling it a “mistake” and casting doubt on his credibility. Meanwhile, French President Emmanuel Macron hinted that the EU might counter this move with a significant economic retaliation known as the trade “bazooka.”

Trump en route to Davos after plane troubles
Trump’s arrival in Switzerland has been delayed by mechancial trouble.
There was a minor electrical problem late Monday on Air Force One, the aircraft that transports the president, leading the crew to turn around the plane about 30 minutes into the flight out of an abundance of caution.
Trump boarded another aircraft, an Air Force C-32, a modified Boeing 757 normally used by the president for domestic trips to smaller airports, and continued his trip to Davos shortly after midnight.
