CENTRAL ILLINOIS (WCIA) — Two winning lottery tickets sold in Gilman and Effingham generated $150,000 in earnings for a pair of lucky winners over the weekend.

While two Powerball players from Missouri and Texas split the record setting $1.7 billion jackpot, a number of Illinois Lottery players also won big. This includes two people in Central Illinois from the drawing on Sept. 6.

At the Brake Time at 1401 US Highway 24W in Gilman, an Illinois Lottery player won $100,000 after matching four numbers and the Powerball, plus the games Power Play feature.

The manager at Brake Time told WCIA that they don’t know who won yet, as they just found out of the winner Monday night.

“We’re happy that someone won here,” the Brake Time employee told WCIA. “Congratulations to the person that won.”

Meanwhile at the Quick Trip at 1320 N 3rd Street in Effingham, a player won $50,000 by matching four numbers and the Powerball.

Both of these stores will receive a selling bonus of 1% of the prize money for the winning tickets they sold.

Outside of the Central Illinois winners, two players across the state each won $1 million after matching five of the numbers. One of these tickets was purchased at Skokie Citgo in Skokie and the other was bought through the Illinois Lottery app. Three other players won $100,000 and another four won $50,000.

This Powerball roll started on June 2. Since then, 1.7 million winning tickets have been sold, with more than $20 million in prizes going to Illinois players.

Additionally, with $93 million in ticket sales, the Illinois Lottery is returning more than $37 million to the Common School Fund to support K-12 education throughout the state.

Illinois Lottery is reminding winners that they have one year from the draw date to claim their prize. The winning numbers from this jackpot, which was the second largest in game history, were: 11-23-44-61-62 and the Powerball 17.
