Two Decatur Residents Charged with Attempted Murder in Connection to 2025 Shooting

DECATUR, Ill. (WCIA) — In a troubling incident from last fall in Decatur, two men are facing serious charges of attempted murder for allegedly firing shots at a vehicle carrying passengers on their way to attend a family vigil and balloon release.

Sha’ron J. Browning, 22, was apprehended on April 15, 2026, and is charged with attempted murder, aggravated discharge of a firearm, aggravated unlawful possession of a weapon, and unlawful possession of weapons by a felon. Michael A. Swanson, also 22, faces identical charges, along with an extra count for unlawful possession of a firearm as a repeat felony offender.
