Two dead, two injured in multi-vehicle crash

COLUMBIA COUNTY, Ga. () – An investigation is underway in Columbia County after a deadly car crash on Monday.

According to the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to Washington Road at Caribe Drive at 5:45 p.m. on Sept. 22 for a crash with injuries. The sheriff’s office said its investigators revealed the driver of a gray Ford Bronco was traveling west on Washington Road at a high rate of speed and crossed into the on-coming lane. The Bronco reportedly struck a gray Ford Focus head on, causing the Ford Focus to overturn onto a red Kia Forte that was in the lane next to the Ford Focus.

The driver and passenger of the Ford Focus were pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver of the Ford Bronco and the driver of the Kia Forte were transported to Doctors Hospital for their injuries.

Investigators said they learned the driver of the Bronco was reportedly involved in another collision at the intersection of Bobby Jones Expressway and Washington Road just before the one at Washington Road and Caribe Drive.

According to the sheriff’s office, the names of the deceased will be released once next of kin have been notified.
