BOSTON – Authorities announced on Tuesday the arrest of two Massachusetts men in connection with the explosion that occurred over the weekend at Harvard Medical School.

The FBI’s Boston branch shared the news of the arrests on social media, promising more details at a 1 p.m. press briefing. They did not disclose further information at the time of the announcement.

The explosion took place early Saturday morning on the fourth floor of the Goldenson Building, part of Harvard Medical School. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported. This building is home to labs and offices related to the neurobiology department.

Officials from the medical school confirmed that the explosion did not cause structural harm and that all laboratory equipment and facilities were unaffected. The Boston Fire Department concluded that the explosion was deliberate. During a thorough search of the premises, police found no additional explosive devices.

An officer who responded to a fire alarm that morning encountered two people running from the building, university police said.
